Descendents - Fat EP (New Alliance, NAR 005) ‘81

the fat ep was Milo Aukerman’s first apperance with the band…what a great addition. very cool image this band created all around their singer the nerdy Milo…the lp’s even had titles chronicaling his life. i still think he shouldve been a saturday morning cartoon. after the release of the single followed two other great lps Milo Goes To College LP 1982, I Don’t Want To Grow Up LP 1985, anything past these two wasnt my cup ‘o tea. always loved the closing track on this single, so heres the lyrics for ya all to sing along to…

I just picked up an original of this for $3.00 the other day, making me pretty happy!

I Don’t Want To Grow Up was the last consistent record they made (although I was VERY disappointed with it when it first came out). I bought the 1st 7″ in some hippy store for $2 in Austin Texas a long time ago and thought, “what the hell is this?”.

That’s the one, kinda jangle surfy sounding from what I remember(?). Hated it then, might like it now.

Big props go to you for posting this one. The Descendents were the first punk band I ever saw live in 1981. Great memories. Keep up the awesome site.

haha.. well, i certainly know i didn’t get it in ‘81. prolly ‘85 or ‘86 & have enjoyed it since. nice share.

agreed about the post ‘i don’t want to grow up’ decline. a few scattered good songs on enjoy & all but nowhere nearly as consistently rockin’ as th 1st 2 lps.

thanks for sharing.

i remember “Der Weinerschnitzel”, one of the first hardcore songs i heard on the radio…that and “Homosexual” by ANGRY SAMOANS. does anybody else miss how non-PC hardcore used to be?
