Antidote - Thou Shalt Not Kill (Antidote Records) ‘83
now this is some great ‘ol intense NYHC from ‘83…i think this was way before its time, well played hardcore with a bit of ummm dare i say metallic ting (dont kill me). arthur googey(ex-Misfits) beats the skins, john joesph (cromag) backs em on “real deal”. i can see where slipknot ( not the iowa one ) got their sound from. nothing more to add here, if you know what became of this band, fill us in. now turn it up!
Tracklisting
life as one / nazi youth
real deal
foreign job lot
zero mentality
got me on the line
die at war
something must be done

Definitely ahead of its time with that (correctly stated by you) metal edge. Coincidentally I just listened to this last night. Sure the RevRecords bands kinda borrowed this sound but I still like second wave NYHC as well.
yeah i liked second wave of nyhc as well, all the early rev. bands where great. i was and still em a fan of that slipknot ep rev. released.
i missed the 1st wave but caught the second. rode it til i bailed in like ‘89. kinda ’round when it imploded, or the rev X scene/sunday mattinees anyways… well, the abc no rio scene sprang up. that was a good thing. in some ways a much better thing.
props to the 1st wave of nyhc.
thanks for sharing.
a guy named Louie? maybe? saw them at a legendary show at longmarch in philly with iron cross, rude awakening, necros, YDI & void. now thats a freakin show!
yeah sounds like a wicked show, did you see DYS at the love hall new years eve ?
I guess I’ll use this one spot to say how badass every single post of yours has been! Man, some great gems here, escpecially this classic - hands down, one of the best NYHC records ever released (or HC at all for that matter).
Thanks for the link, I added a link to you as well. Keep up the excellent work!
This is such a great piece of early NYHC(as are so many of the 7″s you posty here). Raw as fuck which is what NYHC was before the mosh became all. I think Go-Kart Records was supposed to re-issue this a few years ago but the original singer ran off with the advance money, never to be heard from again.
This is one of those few rare records that are just perfect! Antidote’s foreign job lot sounds better than shark attacks version, great post, keep up the good work!
A buddy gave me an un-labeled cassette with this great music on it. I never knew who this band was until today. Antidote truly rocked!
Thanks for this great website
Ah! I am about 2 years too late. I can’t listen to the songs.
