The Freeze - Don’t Forget Me Tommy/I Hate Tourists ‘80
500 pressed? First off I would like to get someone to explain the different covers posted here…this is the freeze’s first single and very sought after by all record collectors. side A could almost get them radio airplay these days, great track. side B is the over rated i hate tourists, hear for yourself. their later stuff killed this one, makes me wonder why this is such a collectible..?
schizophrenic records has re-released this single on coloured vinyl with signed liner notes by clif hanger. get over there and order up a copy now!
i hate tourists
driving down route 28
i gotta hurry fast or i’ll be late
because i see a girl and she wants a ride
and she’ll soon be sitting by my side
but the guy in front from michigan
is slowing down to let her in
with her gone i can’t shoot my load
so i fuckin run him off the road
because i hate tourists tourists suck
it’s only their daughters i wanna fuck
there isn’t a tourist that i don’t hate
so get the hell out of my state
i hate tourists
i went down to my beach at noon
i got pushed away there was no room
their bodies are covering our ocean land
and their babies are pissing in our sand
the only place where there aren’t too many
is in our local cemetary
i’ll tell you now i’ll do what i can
and get em all sent to iran
because i hate tourists tourists suck
it’s only their daughters i wanna fuck
there isn’t a tourist that i don’t hate
so get the hell out of my state

hi folks;

hi fokks the later front and back cover are from the super limited test press of the first pressing of the record back in 1980.
this is a good record. i like the boston not LA/guilty face stuff better.
and what horrible creature has 3 copies of this record? creeeeeeeeepy.
[…] Sorry, this isn’t a post about The Freeze’s great 7″ Guilty Face (that’s been done before), or that really rare, but ultimately not so great first Freeze 7″ (covered here). Nor is it a post about the band’s classic 1984 LP Land of the Lost (right here). With all of the existing blog coverage I’m left to contemplate the band’s latter-day output. Specifically, the Bloodlights 7″ from 1991. Story is that Taang! was looking to reissue the band’s first two albums when the band pulled out these tracks. Taang! released this 7″ in addition to repressed both Land of the Lost and Rabid Reaction. Despite being a bit slower and generally less vicious than their earlier material I still loved this record. Both songs here are quality mid-tempo melodic cuts that I still enjoy many years after my first listen. They would later be included on the band’s third LP Misery Loves Company. While Misery Loves Company was just OK, much of the band’s later efforts (especially Crawling Blind) have been strong. Hard to believe that after 26 years The Freeze are still going strong, recording new material and playing gigs. […]
the freeze reissue of guilty face with 2 bonus tracks will be out really fuckin soon.

The gold covers on this seven inch are not the original. The original was red. The test pressing had no cover. It came with a white label and a plastic slip cover — no “picture sleeve” like above. The covers were done with a magic marker and copy machine then cut and glued by hand. Also the handwritten notes are wrong. Ron Cormier didn’t play on that record (though he did on later records). And, no religious group tried to ban the record. How do I know? Coz it was my father who called the local church and they didn’t want to have anything to do with it so it wasn’t “unsuccessfully banned” unless you want to say that my father was unsuccessful. I played guitar on the record, have copies of the original red cover (and gold) and I have a test pressing as well. Just settin’ things straight. Glad so many people still dig this song even though it seems a bit odd that some 30 years later people still go gaga for the record. — Rob
