VKTMS - 100% White Girl (415 Records) ‘80

VKTMS are a punk band from the original days of the wild and crazy scene in San Francisco in the late ’70s. Inspired by the fire and intensity of the punk explosion, Louis Gwerder (drums) began putting a band together with some friends on bass and guitar. They found Nyna (Napalm) Crawford through a listing on a bulletin board. This was the beginning of the type of serendipity that has always occurred around VKTMS. Not only was the band impressed by her vocal and lyric writing talents but they were also awed by the way she cracked the solid concrete floor with her hyper-active performing style.

The link for 100% White Girl(track 1) is broken. Besides that, I fucking love her vocals and I fucking love the guitar in “No Long Good-Byes”. Thanks for posting this.

I used to know these guys way back when. The artwork on the cover was done by a fantastic artist (now passed away) Jim Osborne. Great band ! Great Artwork !

I have hundreds of tapes of songs I recorded off of John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show but one tape is missing! My sister stole and recorded over the tape which contained 2 tracks from The Vktms. These were the memorable “Midget” and “Hard Case”. Over the years I always searched for an affordable record by The Vktms and finally in the late ’90s got in touch with John Binkov the guitarist. He lives in California and was originally from the Tampa Bay Florida area. He was pleased for the interest in the band and sent me their cd on Broken Rekids. He said they were reforming and they did play some more shows before Nyna tragically died. “Midget” and “Hard Case” are two of the best ever punk songs. Once heard never forgotten. Check out the CD which has 24 tracks and is nicely packaged with lyrics and photos.

The Broken Rekids compilation is also available for download from eMusic. VKTMS had an awesome song called “The Ballad of Pincushion Smith” that was sort of their answer to the Nuns’ “Child Molester”.

John Binkov = very good guy.

He sits through the Knockout Pills each time we play SF no matter how drunk we get.

I am an eternal fan. The VKTMS CD is a MUST have, packed with GREAT songs. I still listen to these guys all the time, and I love all kinds of music. The VKTMS music is not dated, way better than almost any other punk out there. I miss Nyna a lot, but I’m lucky to still be good friends with Louie and know Steve & John, too. No nicer bunch. They should be rich and famous. So buy their CD, a bargain at $10!!!
Get it like this: Send your money to:
P.O. Box 460402, San Francisco, CA. 94146-0402 Cost - $10.ppd in Us , $11.00 Canada/mexico, 12.00 in Europe 14.00 to Asia/Austrialia
Buy a hundred of them.

I know I am going thru some old post here (just recently found this amazing site) but it is really cool to read thru all the comments, like history lessons.
Then it is super cool to see the artist pop in to give a shout!
