Convicted – s/t 7″ (CVT/Reckless) ’83

To be honest, I don’t know anything about Convicted, except that they were from Orange County and have a track on the ‘Clockwork Orangy County’ comp.LP on Mystic.
Any more info would be welcome.

  1. I remember seeing the Convicted play at Hollywood’s Cathay de Grande on dollar night in ’83 and I do know that one of the members later formed Motherfist in ’90 cuz I remember seeing them play a few times at the Anti-Club. That’s all I know about them. Anyway, it’s a cool EP, I remember buying it at Second Time Around store for two bucks in ’84 and now whenever it’s on ebay the ending bids are around fifty bucks.

  2. I’m pretty sure Convicted broke up circa ’85 or 86 and two members went on to join Final Conflict, the one that released the Ashes to Ashes LP in ’87. I know singer Ron Martinez was one, pretty sure the drummer was the other, can’t remember his name though. Dave something maybe?

  3. Listening to these tracks, that’s definitely not Ron Martinez on vocals. He’s definitely on the Clockwork OC track, though. And I’m sure it’s the same band, I recognize the logo.

  4. Hey Dan Druff, the drummer for Final Conflict is called Dave Phillips on the Ashes To Ashes LP.
The members on this 7″ were Mark Bailey(Vo),Brad Jackman(B),Rick Verbael(G) and Paul(D).Can’t see the Final Conflict connection but maybe the band changed members later on??.

    1. Ronnie and Warren Renfrow made Final Conflict, OC SoCal. The other Final Conflict you’re confusing with this bunch of lads was from Tucsan. The drummer ran sound at the Backstage. The Convicted, Mark Bailey(v), Rick Verbael (g), Brad Jackman(b) Linda Jemison, Vince Udo, Darin Phipps + others,(d). I have photos of them playing Madd Gardens, outskirts of Phoenix (tempe?). Lost Cause played a part in helping the band establishing itself. Steve Young’s tutolege and booking the group to open for the Cause garnered exposure a young band would not normally have. This record is proof that a band’s will and determination may outweigh it’s technical prowess.

  5. convicted members went on to form or play in,

  6. Hey Lefe- Yeah, they must have gotten a new line up at some point after this EP was recorded. What I remember is that in their 1986 Flipside interview, Ron and one other guy mentioned that they were previously in Convicted. And if you listen to the Convicted track ‘Bomb Bomp’ from the Clockwork Orange County comp, you can tell without a doubt that it’s Ron singing.

Holy shit, Kerry from LC. Speaking of Flipside, I remember seeing you naked on the cover about 500 years ago. You big stud!

  7. dan, WAIT TILL YA SEE THE NEW PICTURES,,,,,
EVERYTHING IS STILL THE SAME EXCEPT THERE’S
A LITTLE SNOW ON TOP OF THE SHED……………
LOVE CANAL COLLECTION CD OUT SOON ON

SORRY FOR THE SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTING PLUG!!
    KERRY/LOVE CANAL…………….OUT!

  8. Original drumer Vince is not on this (he later went on to front San Diego Anarcho-Punk band Diatribe in 85). Convicted were one of the great OC punk rock party bands in 82-83. By the time Dave Phillips and I joined the band had a more crossover metal/punk sound (Rick and Brad J. the only original members by then). It was a great time but we were not as good as the original line up. (See Mystic Comp. for proof). Glad to see this record up here!!

  9. Ha ha.. Chicanochrist members alive and well. But a few are worried about our presidents current ideas on immigration reform. This could get in the way of a possible band re-union to do our next release “2nd Coming (re-fried)”.
If this is the real Homegirl G I am happy that you have gotten in touch. All is well. how are you?

  10. rm46-don’t know if you will check back but, this is the real Homegirl G. All is well with me. Living in Seattle now. Will actually be visiting south this weekend. Well, I sure hope you don’t get deported before the reunion happens. Keep me posted…

  11. Yo Kerry fun to see you here, I would like to get that Love Canal thang, PS Anthony went on to tour with Damnation for a year or two out of Texas. He was not in our original Convicted ” but then who less me did ” … I don’t find this record very good, in fact its terrible, but eh im vain. I think the day it came out I was on acid and recall listening to it and almost got sick. I think the “Motherfist” record/ basically Convicted grown up is like 100 times better. Could have been Kerry as he was more of a pro- then Arron Bell as a singer / and the fact Anthony and I practiced more develop songs structure, you know A case of beer and put our minds to it ” Hey Kerry Not sure if you know a friend of mine named Jim Waataja used to be a skateboarder I humg out with growing up with in Santa Ana ….. Anyway the dude is like a Pres of a Multi Million dollar Clothing company Skate wear and hip hop clothing… Google his name ” im shocked ” the dude was a total stoner… HA ow well goes to show….

PS, I still think Rikk Agnew should get his ass kicked for ripping of my AMP and CAB when they played that Christian Death concert in Hollywood, give me his crappy Marshal……. #_(&@&%@

    1. I wrote two of the four songs on that 45… “Kidnapped” and “Cant Stand Me” I was about 13 year’s old at the time. What’s up Rick, Vince… Long time no see…

    2. Well Rick, i await with ass in air. I gave You My red Marshall Head cuz that’s all I had to My name. I was homeless, trying to support a child & wanted for a grand theft Warrant. The $$$ I made that night went toward bailing Rozz outta jail the night before the show and covering My child support and attorney costs. I paid Three(3, Who I will keep anonymous) musicians A C-note each to bring, set up, tear down and put away + keep an eye on YOUR SHIT (BTW, in all sincerity, thanx again),and to tech becuz I was going straight to a hotel to have a WONDERFUL time with one ov the female ‘dancers'(which never happened, thanx to My EX). So there You have the Info as it happened, and Yes, it was still My responsibility and My fault that Your equipment disappeared. I still feel terrible about this and apologize from the tips ov Me fingers…and that was a good night…goodnight?…GOODNIGHT!!!-^*(W)*^
