CTAKAHOØ SS - S/T (self released - SS 1081) ‘81
Finally, i have an oportunity to repay the contributors of this site for all the great posts i enjoyed for weeks.
CTAKAHOØ SS were a band from my home town of Chambery, France. As far as i know, they were the only punk band around these parts in 1981.
I found this record last month for a few euros and i couldn’t believe my luck. It’s rare stuff.
They are a little on the “mental” (aka intense) side of things but i find it quite good. They stand out, today, from the more generic 2nd wave punk and it’s refreshing.
For all those reasons I really like this record and i would love to learn more about the band.
Saddly all i know about them & this EP, i learned from the web and that’s not much!
This is their 1st autoproduced 7″. Later, they changed their name for Stakanov SS.
Under that name they released a one-sided 7″ called ‘hors serie’ in 1983 (i managed to download a rip of this single recently on Direct Connect and it’s more oi!/streetpunk).
They also contributed a live track for a compilation called ‘collection privée’. Both those records were released on their own label called Poison Noir.
In 1984, they had a track on the ‘1984 : the first sonic world war’ compilation released by the label New Wave.
The track “Autonomie” from their 2nd 7″ can be heard on “Killed by death #100″.
My copy as an all-white sleeve with opening on 1 side only, but it was normaly issued with a picture sleeve & a cuted-out verso.
I don’t know if a few were issued “sleeveless” or if mine got lost or trashed.

Rare stuff indeed. A lot more experimental and noisy than the Stakanov 7″ - which someone should also post if they have it.
Keep the French stuff coming!
Pretty bizarre to se this one. I purchased this in the early 80’s….never knowing anything about them. Thanks for the info. French??????? Hmmmm…would’ve never guessed.
Awesome!!!! that’s why this site works so well. Anybody from anywhere can post the most obsure stuff and open ears and minds everywhere.

i’ve just learned that a friend of my mother played with stakanov ss for 6 month, so i’ll try to contact him and learn a little more about the band. he’s still a musician but i think he’s more into electro&pop these days but still keeping with the diy ethic.
anyway, i’ll try to complete the info on this post soon.
