HERESY - “Never Healed” flexi ep (Earache Records - ear1) ‘85
I’ll try to channel my inner Pushead for this one (clears throat): “As you drop the needle onto this flexi, sweating in anticipation, a rumbling thunderstorm of drums fires a supersonic lightning bolt ripping thru your skull, spraying blood, grey matter, and shards of bone around the room while buzzsaw guitar tones surge adrenaline thru you at jackhammer speed, rattlling your spinal discs like castanets, your body convulsing in rapid-fire tremens and overloading your throbbing eyes, exploding acid erupting from your sockets as it scalds down your melting face.” Well that stunk, sorry.
From the inner sleeve:
“Recorded and mixed at Pavilion Studios 8-track, W Bridgford, Nottingham in 4 1/2 hours at total cost of 40 pounds (yes, we know the vocals are mixed low!)
Total cost of pressing, recording, plastic bags, inserts & covers: 800 pounds, 3000 pressed”.
Also see more info on the record and their origins as PLASMID here http://www.earache.com/bands/heresy/heresy.html and Zouo’s post of the “Thanks!” ep http://www.7inchpunk.com/?p=407#comments for more tunes & links.
And just peep the t-shirt…that Kalv’s got some nerve!

One of, if not THEE BEST thrash record of all time!!
I was into punk/hardcore way before this record came out, but for some reason this was the record that, as SPINAL TAP would say, ” gave me that push over the cliff”.
Absolutely ferocious !! yeah, the recording ain’t so great and as the boob sez, “vocals recorded too low” but man this record still makes the hairs on my neck stand on end when I hear it.
Recently, there has been a slew of HERESY re-issues and discographies CDs, all worth your time if you dig this flexi or great fuggin’ thrash in general. Particularly good is the 1985-87 disc which features the pre-flexi demo which is utterly AMAZING. It also has the tracks that Reevsey (original guitar/vocals)recorded for the split w/CONCRETE SOX before John joined as vocalist and they re-recorded them. some of my favorite stuff !!!! Alot of this stuff I speak of has already been released (bootlegs,or in Japan etc)and wasn’t readily available until now.
Also somebody (short fuse records??) just legitimately re-released the PLASMID demo on a nifty 7″ with an extra track. mandatory listening along with all the HERESY records.
Ps: the “whose generation” 7″ is also posted on this site- look in the archives………
Oh yeah, I almost forgot-
My first copy (of many) was mail ordered right from Dig himself(earaches fledgling head honcho) and hand written on the inside of the thin paper sleeve, somebody (Dig??) wrote “hail the NEW kings of thrash”. It also came with a sticker….
Ps: FUCK PUSHEAD, that sketchy fucker still owes me money……..no offense, boob.
one of my favorite records of all time. i cover “never healed,” with a band of mine - that song is so fun to play!
no offense taken, Surly, you ain’t the only one, apparently. figured this would be a good companion piece to the RIPCORD 7″. thanx.
great music but the vocals could be a bit louder
Never been a big fan…but Goddamn that drummer plays like no other. Incrdible! I think they needed to pick up the pace a little more. HA
Woow Heresy, what a masterpiece this flexi is… along with Ripcord “Damage is done”, just ask japanese punks ha!
When i discover their early stuff, i immediately though, “well sounds a lot like Ripcord” which was of course a very good point. I allready knew Ripcord’s music but just heard of Heresy. I remember friends confusing both, and it became more obvious at the end of their both short existence. Anyway this, with their split LP w/ Concrete Sox was their best stuff, under the Heresy name (Plasmid was great too). Sadly their later stuff is much more USHC influenced, it’s not that it’s a bad point, but i think it’s not so good.
