Minor Threat - Salad Days (Dischord) 1985
French pressing that gathers up some stray demos from December, 1983. “Salad Days” is a strong hardcore song and “Good Guys” was an interesting choice for a cover. “Stumped” is a bit weak and possibly used just to fill out the release as an EP. Overall a pretty good little piece of hardcore history.

“French pressing” is a bit misleading. All that means is that Dischord/Southern were pressing their vinyl in France at the time (where the law dictates that country of manufacture must be listed on the product), not that the record was on a French label, as is usually meant by that phrase. It’s just a regular Dischord release.
It’s also entirely incorrect to refer to these as “stray demos”. This single is simply MT’s final record. The tracks aren’t demos in any way.
Thanks for the corrections Neurotic and Dan. I was just happy to find the record over Christmas break. I’m more a fan of the music than I am a researcher. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH
Their worst record…
no not their worst…i always liked this single, maybe i was just really hungry for anything minor threat released. this is not their best but to tag worst is kind of harsh.
I bought it when it came out, played it once or twice and has just sat amongst my 7″ records ever since. To me, it was not too great.
Isn’t this in print? If not, these tracks are certainly available on the discog. cd. LIMP POST. Come on, keep these posts raw, ripping and RARE!!
I also remember buying this when it came out. I felt let down by it as it was quite tame compared to the 1st two 12″s.
This record demonstrated how the best punk band in the world could mature into the worst, most indulgent nonsense in a matter of months. ‘Salad Days’ my arse — weren’t they still virtually teenagers when they recorded this?
