The Damned - Smash It Up / The Burglar (Big Beat) 1979
Ok the Damned are one of those bands that I can not sit through a whole album. I like just very few select tracks from this band. Tracks including Smash it Up, Neat Neat Neat, Noise Noise Noise, and if the mood stricks me right maybe a couple more. I believe this is a 82 reissue/repress but not to sure, I also owned this single on red wax. But anyhow…

Smash It Up

The Burglar (Backwards Edit) as pointed out by Garioch

Yes this is the reissue. The first pressing was on Chiswick records from 1978. The red wax pressing you had was also a reissue
4 diff covers of the origional, one for each band member.
There’s a backwards bit on the b side, if you spin it back you hear… “I’m a real villian” if I remember right.
Arrrgh! That was love song I was thinking about with the covers! Sorry only one p.s.
Garioch check out the backwards sample I did, thanks for the heads up…I never knew that.
You can’t sit through a whole Damned album ? What the fuck’s the matter with you, punk ? I’m assuming you are American, but given the distinct absence of good US bands of the era on this blog, it’s scant justification for such a wanky bitch: for the record, ‘OI!” isn’t, WASN’T punk - i rememember “big” (ie, “fat”) john of the exploited when he worked in “Listen Records” in Glasgow - he was a fucking tit then.
The Damned WERE the best punk band in the UK in ‘76, and they wore their Stooges affection more like a tattooo than a badge.
“Damed Damned Damned” was THE album of 1977.
Cockney Rejects ? Angelic Upstarts ? Anti Nowhere League ?
FUCK OFF, son.
Nope not an American and yes It might be due to my age why I was never a big Damned fan. I only started listening to ‘punk’ in ‘79 so maybe I missed something here. And yeah fuck the exploited they still owe me 7bucks.
Hey ib, glad someone else agrees that all that ”Oi” shit wasn’t/isn’t and never will be punk!!
I gotta go with the other old fart, the first and third DAMNED albums are classics for the cardio crowd. The Misfits totally bit on the earliest Damned stuff, and they were also one of the few ‘77 bands that the first wave of hardcore embraced. (I’m talking to you, TSOL!)
Cockney Rejects ? Angelic Upstarts ? Anti Nowhere League ? Who claimed Oi! had anything to do with punk? I dont recall ever saying that, because me personally I never listened to oi! so…whats your beef?
Ib lol you’re seriously stupid lol
