Does the record come with free bubblegum???
came with a free sticker that you might be able to chew.
I heard U’s on Myspace.com b4 dawg! I like more power, hooks, punk sound, and less wimpy. Power pop and love is dead though. You’ll probably find your songs on a Teenline comp 20 years from now and people will be listening to it on their fucking lame mo3 players or whatever’s around.
Waaaaay too wimpy sounding for my tastes………
I’m a HUGE fan of their influences and that brand of sugary power-pop in general, but what they failed to include in their songs are actual POWER CHORDS!!!!cuz it’s what made those band so great!
If yer interested in this type of music with some fuckin’TEETH, check out these current bands:

Hi, group
This is a little on the slick side, but I still like it. Reminds me a bit of the Dickies. I’ll bet that they have a little more “snot” live.
However, I am not sure it is a good idea for this site to post records that are sent to them by bands. Might set a bad precedent.
Thanks,
Bob Suren

Some huge Buzzcocks influences here indeed (and I really like the early Buzzcocks pop punk classics, I think “Singles Going Steady” definitely contains some of the best pop punk songs EVER), but unfortunately The Power-Chords’ songs are a bit too far away in the power pop side of the fence for me. A little more punky snot is what is needed here.
Bob’s got a point when he claims that it might not be a good idea for this site to post records that are sent by bands as it might set a bad precedent. This isn’t a promotion channel for commercial purposes (and by saying this I don’t blame The Power-Chords, I just try to imagine what would come next, some Blink 182 wanna-bees trying to catch our attention, perhaps…?). On the other hand, it’s up to 7inchpunk which records are worth putting here, so it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I guess that if instead of the nice and clean Power-Chords some hardcore/punk/crust bands wanted to send their latest 7″ here, perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad. It depends…
PS. Listening to this single made me wonder what it would sound like if they speeded up the tempo, following the footsteps of the early Dickies…!
PPS. These songs sounded much better on second round! Am I getting soft??? Quick, gotta put the new Skitsystem record on the plate… :)
About posting this 7inch here…The band had wrote to me asking if I would post their single for some outside reviews and also to help them gain a wider listener base. Im glad to support old and new punk/rock/hardcore that is sent into the site. The single will be taken down within a couple of days, just thought we could get these guys some good exposure. And we still offer FREE hosting for any band that needs it.
Definately have the skinny tie, good vibrations sound pegged. Very polished, but a bit too squeaky clean. I agree add a bit more “punk” to the formula.
It doesn’t make sense (to me) to put boundaries on any art form, especially one such as punk, unless your agenda is some sort of subliminal control of artistic direction a-la major labels and distributors. And we all should know by now how fun that is.
Throttling the music will most likely only result in more bubblegum punk spreading like an unchecked virus.
I’m not a big religious fan, but too many times have I witnessed the stone refused becoming the head cornerstone to act like it doesn’t happen.
My opinion is let it stay for others to make up their own mind; the alternative is paramount to crossing the line into a realm of pseudo-censorship. Say isn’t that something we’re supposed to be opposed to?
Not to mention boring attempts at mediaform control have already been done to death.
Going against the grain can be a real hoot, give it a go.
The sad truth is: if finger-poppin and booty shakin is the way the world is headed, then let em have it. You can’t stop it, not so long as money still dictates whose message reaches you.
I’m only thirty-six, but three decades ago my daddy taught me when dealing with something I’m not keen about I can always just not listen/buy/participate…unnattended art forms die of neglect when freedom of choice is your only voice.
