The Lurkers - I Don’t Need To Tell Her (Beggars Banquet Beg9) 1978
Four great covers one great single. ‘I Dont Need To Tell Her’ hit number 49 on the charts, which you will see why once you listen to it. Single is backed with a cover of the Bo Diddley’s tune ‘Pills’ which was also covered by The New York Dolls in ‘73. Glad to share this great single collection with you all and maybe for a few, a chance to see the 4 different covers that came with this special edition. Dont forget to check em out at their home on the web… http://www.thelurkers.co.uk

Ahh, aren’t they just the CUTEST! Could never get into this this band tho. NYDollies rule. Best cover!
This was a year before the Damned did a similar thing with the sleeves for the “Love Song” record, also a hit. Mike Stone, who shot the pictures, founded both Beggars Banquet and Clay records; he started out a studio engineer in the 60’s and worked for the Beatles a couple of times! (maybe that’s why he double-tracked Cal’s vocals on “Realities of War”)
Just to be pedantic, Mike Stone definitely didn’t found Beggar’s Banquet, although he did work for them, including helping set the label up, before starting Clay.
Generation X also had four different sleeves for their King Rocker 7″
