The Klan

The Klan – Pushin Too Hard/Cover Girls 7″ (PBS 5) 1980

“Cover Girls has got the be one of the stupidest, lowest most senseless anti-feminist diatribes yet set to music.. c’mon’ guys! Just ’cause you can’t get laid is no reason to take it out on all of us.” says Miss Nomer on the back cover of this 7″ by LA Punk band, The Klan.

Unfortunately I have very little information about this group other than that this 7″ is the fifth to be released on Posh Boy records, and that they play their Punk-Rock raw, melodic and offensive. If anyone has any input, please email me.

  1. FUCKIN’ ACE!!!!!

Great, great underrated 7″ from the garages of L.A.
Seems like “cover girls” would’ve shown up on one of the many KBD/BLOODSTAINS (or maybe it did????)

Ironic this should get a dusting off in the age of
all the so called “cover girls” like paris hilton, jessica simpson and all the other vapid, no-talents cloggin’ up the stratosphere. Is it too late for a summer anthem??????

    Awesome post…..keep em’ coming!!!!

ps: yep, that’s a SEEDS cover alright.

  2. the 7″ was originally issued with no p/s. the sleeve above is from the reissue from 1990. it shouldn’t be hard to find for $10 or less, and is worth owning just for the rager “cover girls.”

  3. The band also included members of the Cheifs. I’m surprised more people aren’t familiar with them, seeing how “pushin too hard” was featured on one of the Rodney on the ROQ comp LP’s and was quite a “hit” back in the infancy days of KROQ.

  4. Early LA punk. In fact, the band had been around for a while before this was recorded. The Flyboys had some extra recording time, four hours, when they were done recording their ep, and so form that time came this ep from The Klan.
The first song, ‘Pushin’ Too Hard’, is a cover of The Seeds song of the same name. The song would later appear on a Rodney On The ROQ comp and received a lot of airplay on his radio show. The other song, ‘Cover Girls’, is an original and has lyrics that are sure to bum out some people. Who cares though? The song is a memorable treat.
I am not aware of any other studio recordings from this band, besides what I have talked about here. There are lots of rehearsal tapes and live recordings going around, so if you have the chance to get those, please do so, as they are great.
    Enjoy the music!

The original version of this ep has no cover sleeve. The covers shown here are from a later reissue. The front of the ep is at the top of the post. The back of the ep is here…
