An 11-year-old boy has been charged with killing his father’s pregnant girlfriend with his hunting gun as she lay in bed at the family farmhouse in Pennsylvania.

Jordan Brown is alleged to have shot 26-year-old Kenzie Marie Houk, who was eight months pregnant, before catching the school bus on Friday morning, according to the Lawrence County district attorney, John Bongivengo.

The shotgun was found in what police believed was the boy’s bedroom.
“The youth model 20-gauge shotgun, which is said to have belonged to Jordan, is designed for children and such weapons do not have to be registered.”

Guns designed for children? Is there something wrong with this or is it just me?

Just to clarify, long guns (rifles and shotguns) of any kind need not be registered in Pennsylvania, just handguns. That article makes it seem like “guns for kids” or youth models, which are common and simply downsized versions of firearms, are specifically exempted.

And no, I don’t want to initiate or participate in an online argument about guns and/or gun rights.

Oh come online arguments about guns are fun. I just have a very hard time understanding the whole guns designed for children or downsized versions of firearms. Is it really needed? Who knows, but I dont think so. Must be the Canadian in me.

Heart of the matter … how sad is this situation? Eleven year old is fucked for life. Local news reported that he executed the woman. Shot her in the back of the head.

Hey Bill its been along time, to bad it took the topic of Guns to get you out to comment ;).

This situation is very sad. Might be that this kid had a “child size gun” but why wasnt it locked up like it should’ve been. Isnt it law to have all guns secured at all times?

Ya this is pretty messed up. I got no problem with hunting rifles that are meant for kids, I got no problem with hunting. I do think it’s really fucked up though that you don’t need to register these guns in the state of PA. And by the way, I’m pretty sure there are plenty of rural white-trash Canadians who have bought these guns for their kids, or really want to. Canada isn’t as progressive as seen on TV folks.

Are you really going to try to make this look like a gun problem? Even if the kid had a “man-sized” gun, the same thing would have happened. It’s not a gun problem, it’s a person problem. The kid’s fucked up, not the people who madea kid-sized gun.

Kid sized guns, Man sized guns shouldn’t even exist. Come on “kid sized guns”. Thats just wrong in my world. I remember me and my wife went into a sporting goods store in the south, walked through the gun section where a little boy around 10 was holding a kid sized gun and I heard his mom say to him “come on let your sister hold it”. Thats fucked up.

Im not trying to make it look like anything, just found it to be a very sad situation.

Are you for real? Do you give a baby a knife to play with? The reason you don’t give a kid a gun is because HE’S A KID. I’m sick of people blaming gun deaths on people being “fucked up” - that’s a bullshit answer and you know it.

Hey Robert, Trust me I know first hand about the rural white-trash Canadian. I live next door to a few of them and yes they have a very nice collection of guns for all occasions.

The point is simply, NO 11 year old should have access to any firearms, period! I wouldn’t want the 11-year old’s around me to ever have a gun. Los Angeles doesn’t need your guns! BAM! BAM! BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!
BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!
