The Electric Eels - Agitated EP (Rought Trade) ‘77
If the STOOGES lit the fuse, the goddam Eels poured gasoline on the bomb.
Incredibly savage for it’s time (1975 fer crissakes, think Joni Mitchell, the Doobie bros. and John Denver) this little slab o’ wax puts to shame all the so called “innovators” of punk. Who would have guessed a few knuckleheads from Cleveland would render most of Detroit, N.Y. and Englands bands recorded output(past & future) OBSOLETE!!!!
Best when played LOUDLY and repetedly………………………………..
Tracklisting
agitated
cyclotron

Great find! If these songs were indeed recorded in 1975, the eels might rival The Ramones as the godfathers of punk. In any event, your description of them as “incredibly savage” is perfectly apt. Cheers.
they’re keen……in a holy fuck, are my ears bleeding way,,,,,,
beautiful sounds…
thanks.
Great band! Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments covered “Cyclotron” on their Bait and Switch LP. thanks as always!

hey stunt, more info here: http://www.electriceels.com/index.html
thanks for the link Jeff
Hey Scott, Nope, Brian McMahon was the only singer in the Eels but at one point Nick Knox from the CRAMPS was the drummer(obviously way before the cramps)The better Eels site is guitarist John Mortons wwwelectricfuckingeels.com Check out the rant at the begining of the homepage about ex-singer Brian McMahon, Pure hilarity………..
CORRECTION: the singer’s name was Dave E. (Brian McMahon was the 2nd guitarist…no bass on this!) and indeed, Nick Knox of The Cramps plays drums on this wax slab. go to http://www.clepunk.com for a whole dossier of info, including photos…that’s a mean ‘fro!
I got this for pennies (literally) from the bargains box in Good Vibrations in Belfast in ~1980/81. It was terrifying.
Boob… your absolutely right, gotta stop writing posts at 2 a.m………………
