HERESY - Whose generation? (in your face records) ‘88

If you were around in the 80’s and were into H.C., thrash ,crossover or fast music in general, HERESY were your gods. This ep saw them at their pinnicle, but also marked the sad days of their demise as it was released posthumously. Fans in the U.S. never got to witness HERESY live as they never toured there. For a detailed history of the band check out their current re-release discographies (with liner notes by the band members) or the kill from the heart website also has an imformative piece.

Even if the cover is a blatant rip-off from The Who´s debutalbum…
I still think it´s funny and this were before any photoshop and homecomputers.
Btw Heresy rocks.

Members of Heresy continued to rock in the band Meatfly.

On this level and when it´s bands copying each other it can be fun but when major labels/multinationals prey on and exploit subcultures and distort their original message it´s not quite as fun.
Remember Nike verses Minor threat?

speedstaterecords re-issued Heresy material lately on digipack CDs. I picked up both Vol.1&2 and they rip! Speedstate is a great label IMO. I bought vol.1 from a distro but I bought vol.2 directly from speedstate (Japan) for $13ppd US and it got to me quicker than I thought, perfect condition - that guy rocks… Vol.2 is a re-mastered Face Up To It and it’s killer. Hope you guys don’t mind me posting CD info related to 7″ posts on here!

Man, these guys were the gods. They were even better before John (former drummer from Concrete Sox) joined the band and Reevsy was still on vocals. I always thought their pinnacle was the Never Healed flexi and the alternate version of the songs on the Concrete Sox LP. (That alternate version was only released as extras on the unbelievably hard-to-find Japanese CD called Never Slit Thanks). Face Up To It would have been equally as good too if the recording wasn’t so horrendous. I don’t know how well the Speedstate versions can overcome the fact that most of Heresy’s recordings–as opposed to the music–were shite but people who have no Heresy recordings at all should check it out.

I totally agree to you, James.
The really brilliant Heresy stuff is with Reevsy on vocals, the rest does not come close to it.

I really think ALL the heresy stuff is brilliant. The flexi is probably my sentimental fave, and the split lp w/reevsey is probably the best recording IMO. If I had to choose a desert island pick though, it would probably be this 7″ or the demo.

Meatfly didn’t do to much for me but if you get a chance, check out the UNIFORM APPROACH 7″ heresy members did. It’s a pisstake of late ‘80 style straightedge music scene. Supposedly they were greatly influnced by NYC MAYHEM/STRAIGHT AHEAD and though the UA stuff is a parody, it cooks.

Hello out there!

HERESY is really a master piece of hardcore, so thanx for this 7 inch on this website!!! I never saw that 7 before but its well known that they love The WHO. I have the 3 song “Live at Leeds” 7 inch of HERESY and the cover looks like the legendary cover of “The WHO - Live at Leeds”.

The speedstaterecords re-issued Vol.1&2 of Heresy seems like a re-issue of the former released Vol.1&2 by Lost and Found, a german record label/mailorder. The also released a re-mastered face up to it and I listened to it once… its a blast!

And once again - thanx for this great website!
