ESKORBUTO-Mucha polcia poca diversion ep(Spasuls pnk004) ‘83
ESKORBUTO were one the best and most well loved punk bands to ever come from Spain. Forming in the early 80’s, they came straight from the slums of Bilbao, and their mixture of punk/oi and nihilistic attitudes reflected their discontent. Although they were local legends, seems not many people outside that country have ever heard them except fans of Spanish music and record collectors. I got my first taste of these guy back in the mid ‘80 from MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL radio. For a brief but accurate history of the band click here

I might have these guys on some comp somewhere, but this EP really rocks. Love the raw bounce of the tunes, and gotta love that bass. Spain is nicely close to the Italian sound. Thanks Surly.
Great, great band. Fuckin amazing, true and sincere sound. Ratos de Porão did a cover of “Mucha policia poca diversion” (Too many police too little diversion) in their album Feijoada Acidente - International. Since I am from Portugal (and so close to Spain) check a portuguese classic punk band called Censurados, from late 80’s. Their first album it’s really worth it.
Loving this stuff,I am woefully ignorant about Spanish and Euro Punk in general (excluding them bloodstains albums) any pointers gladly received.
Hey crease, check out kill from the heart website (http://homepages.nyu.edu/~cch223/mainpage.html.) it does a pretty good job of covering hardcore from around the world. It’s broken down by counrty and region. This will give you a good start.
Some of my faves (recommendations) from Spain are:
KANGRENA, TOREROS AFTER OLE, ANTI/DOGMATIKKS, LARSEN, MG15, LA UVI, RIP, ULTIMO RESORTE and a bunch of others.
