GAI - Extermination flexi (Blue Jug) ‘84
Excellent release by these noisy punks from Kyushu. Aside from this flexi, they had two demos, “Damaging Noise” and “Damnation”, which have been reissued on CD in Japan. There’s also a Japanese CD called “Total Control” which is kind of an odds-n-ends compiliation of various rare tracks. After this flexi, GAI mutated into the Swankys who put out two excellent records (This Is My Lifestyle 7″ and Very Best Of Hero LP) in the same style as GAI, but with cleaner production. Then they changed their style to garage rock and released many more records.
Tracks
Extermination
Liar
Pathetic Day
Hate In The Memories
Children They Don’t Know The War
Blood Spit Night (Forever 76)

A noisy masterpiece, not for the weak, sensitive or quite lovin’ punks out there.
This record along with others from SWANKYS and CONFUSE, practically started the current punk scene in Portland,OR.
I don’t know about Portland, but back in the late 80’s there was the incredible WARFEAR from the UK who were heavily influenced by CONFUSE, GAI and GAUZE. They put out three shit hot demo’s between 88-90 before they split after opening for GAUZE in the UK.
But, I digress, killer flexi. Just maximum destruction all the way!!
fast and raw…just the way i like it
great post
aarrgghhh…..GAI. Japanese punx were really insane producers of raw crude chaotic wall of noise. Try to obtain THE SS 12″ ep, which was recorded live in 1979 and bootlegged couple years ago. Insane stuff, more brutal than MIDDLE CLASS out of vogue EP 1978. The same with GAI, rough storming chaos punk with martian who holds a microphone. This is pure nightmare, together with KURO and CONFUSE…greaaat
BLOOD SPIT NIGHT FOREVER 76!
there is also an official cassette from 1985 called “1981-1985″. 45 minutes of insane rehearsals/demos/etc that also includes this bands version of the ELECTRIC EELS “Agitated”…further proof that these Kyushu noise mongers recognized brilliance when they heard it…one of the best!
This and Damnation is defenitely Gai at their best.
fuck yes, great stuff. thanx for the post
the swankys were actually GAI’s orginal name. they changed their name to such after they couldnt get any shows under the Swankys name due to violence at their shows. they eventually changed their name back to the swankys after a couple of releases under GAI.
