BETONG HYSTERIA - Spontan Abort (Mind Expanding mes 04) ‘83

Great early 7″ from Norway. BETONG HYSTERIA (concrete hysteria) were supposedly one of that countries first hardcore bands. They released this 7″ and had a live song on the “song of Norway” cassette compilation before disbanding. Members went on to be in other punk/hardcore bands from Norway such as SISTE DAGERS HELLIGE and KAARE & PARTIET
Distorto, mid-tempo songs complete with bad-ass, wailing guitar solos and some seriously gruff vocals make this 7″ a true classic. This ep has been bootlegged several times and I believe it had and official re-release just recently.

Not my kind of stuff, but it seems and sounds like a classic from early 80’s in Norway. The only band I can remember from there is FATHER WAR, if I’m not mystaken. Does anybody know about them?

Do you mean Fader War? I’m a dumb American so for all I know Father War might be the English translation. Anyway, the Fader War tracks on the “Ingenting For Norge” comp LP are seriously ahead of their time. The guitar almost sounds like Disclose! A while ago I asked on the Profane Existence board if anyone knew their current whereabouts, cause I was interested in re-issuing those comp LP tracks on a 7″. Still kinda am, but I don’t have much money right now. If someone wants to go in on it with me, then we’ll see…

As I said I was not sure about the band’s name, but considering what you’ve described, no doubt it’s the FADER WAR you mentioned.
I’ve just got three tracks in a comp. tape released by and old zine here from S. Paulo/Brazil around ‘83 (probably taken from the comp. you said). Unfortunately I don’t have neither the tape anymore, but the songs remain in my mind. Great stuff anyway.
Thanks for your reply!!!

Thanks for posting this EP cuz I’ve been wanting to hear it. I think this EP is awesome for its obscurity and it’s Norweigian style HC.

Hey thanks! I’ve been looking for this EP since ages (I heard of B.H. on a compilation called Anarki og Kaos) and never managed to find it anywhere!!

Snuten Kommer is one of the best anti-cop songs ever together with “Polizia” by Impact (a great band from Italy).

Just one thing: the record has been converted a little bit too loud and the sound gets quite distorted…yeah right…but…you know what i mean. ; )

Are you goin to post more Norwegian bands?
Things like Kaare Og Partiet, Oslo Børs, Front Page and Norske Gutter….

Keep up with your amazing work!

Thanks for posting those Fader War links, I’ve had poor quality copies of them for a while, but these are much better. The drumming on those tracks is so sick and out of control.

First off all Betong hysteria has a track on a compilation called “Nå eller aldri” that is only on that. Not their best track, but good enough to be played now and then. The rest of that compilation is everything than punk/HC related stuff.

Ulf Knudsen played in Kaare og partiet before he joined Betong hysteria, not after. For those who understand Norwegian check the whole history out here; http://nxp.blogspot.com/2004/09/betong-hysteria-historien-og.html Discography on the bottom of the artical should most off you understand i hope.

Coexist if you ever find out more about that Brazilian tape comp that included Fader War i would like to know more.

Fader war is a play of words upon The Lord`s prayer. In Norwegian its fader vår. Vår is pronaunced like the english word WAR and gives the band name an extra edge.

Fader war was of the first Norwegian HC bands togheter with acts like Mitti skritti from Bodø. Both bands was heavily inspired by Stoke (England) act Discharge. Both bands planed to release their own 7″ but never did. Both bands have tracks on one compilation each and should have been much more appriciated than they are.

Realy hope Chaosnonmusica gets enough money to release a 7″ with Fader war. I pre order a copy already, just in case.

Sorry. Betong hysteria compilation should off course be “Framtia er nå” and not “Nå eller aldri”.

this is one of the most intense records i´ve ever heard! not so fast, but the anger that shines through… i think norwegian hc is greatly underrated, which is a pity, because it beats most of the swedish and finnish stuff easily! some more words of gratitude to you wedge for the fader war link! heard only one song on some tape comp. a friend of mine has, but i remember it to be some really kickass stuff! does anyone plan to post some more treasures from norway?? what about making a norwegian section?

I will try to put out some norwegian rarities as soon as I have figured out how…there were many good bands, but not to many releases on vinyl ,I will try to put akutt 80 7″ here, its very rare since they put most of the pressings on fire at their last consert.Oslo børs put out two good records, liliedugg from trondheim should definetely be here same goes for the sjølmord 7″.there where quite many punk bands here from already 76; belsenboys, tomsingan,kjøtt,impotentz, pigs, hjertesvikt A/S(also put out 7″),kjærnefamilien,hærverk,feber ,dead swingers, tmb, depress, stengte dører, seppo goes to holocaust, fjerned haarwekst etc etc…I will release a comp tape(!) with much rarities for those interested.
