POHJASAKKA-Maailma Täynnä Vihaa ep (Kalma) 1985
I don’t know shit about Finnish hardcore compared to most of the absolute FANATICS of this stuff, but what I do know is everytime I’ve been exposed to it, it’s kicked my ass.
I always loved the big name Finnish stuff like TERVEET KADET, RIISTETYT and RATTUS, but never really focused on the rest of it when it came to buying/collecting records. I heard some great shit on early MAXIMUM ROCK AND ROLL radio and random comps, but still, nothing sunk in.
A couple years ago I got a comp LP called “killed by Finnish hardcore”, a sort of a boot “killed by death” type compilation, but containing all essential hardcore from Finland. Well fuck me, if this boot LP didn’t completely blow me away. Lotsa cool stuff discovered, but my absolute favorite song on the lp was the one by POHJASAKKA.
From what I’ve found out, POHJASAKKA was a relatively short lived band, containing Pete, a former singer of MELLAKKA , playing bass on this, along with other “former members of” guys, sort of a side project/supergroup. This 7″ was their only release and was pretty limited (as made fun of by wedge in another Finnish post) to 300-500 copies. I’ve yet to find a copy of this (right, good luck eh?) but a friend/FinH.C.fanatic has graciously let me borrow it and drool on it………I mean post it on this site cuz it’s a KILLER!!!!!!

Yes, this rages as do both of the MELLAKKA EPs.
Most of the Finnish records from that period have very limited press runs.
Be sure to get the recent MELLAKKA “R.I.P.” LP (Their discography release) on Partners in crime records.
Got this one (yeah!!) and it’s a belter! Just below classic status, but still rocks like a motherfucker! Abrasive as hell with those excoriating (!) vocals associated with the Finnish HC sound. Gonna listen to this when I get home from slavery - sorry, work…
This is sick. I have a couple other Finnish comps apart from the killed by Finnish Hardcore. Theirs Russia Bombs Finland and Hardcore ‘83 both are bad ass
