POLO PEPO Y SOCIEDAD CORRUPTA - San Felipe Es Punk 7″ (Meche’s) 1988 - Mexico
Here’s one great single coming from Tequila country. It’s not a split, Polo Pepo is a guy not a band, and he was part of the early Mexico DF punk scene, Sociedad Corrupta is the band doing the music. San Felipe de Jesús was the neighborhood where many punks from Mexico used to hang on and eventually the scene started burgeoning from this area, around the mid 80’s, bands like Síndrome del Punk, Rebel’d, Descontrol were formed in this area. Since “San Felipe es punk” is concederated as the most classic mexican punk song.

ahhhhh….never had this record, havent heard it in YEARS until i heard the A-side on a ocal radio station a couple weeks ago…YEAH!!! i’v had a terrible day today, but this 45 makes my day now PERFECT!!!

i would love to ear that Decontrol demo, it’s a great idea anyway, one of the early DF HC bands, essential for those interested in mexican punk history !
Again like in many countries most stuff was one tape, and usually was the best stuff too.
Enjoyable stuff. I had never heard of them before this. Did they release anything else?
I don’t know of any other release, but he appeared on a few comps, like “EL punk no esta muerto”.

ALGUIEN SABE DONDE AGARRAR MUSICA DE DESCONTROL Y SIZE ,
Greatttt 7″. A few years ago somebody in DF was selling unplayed copies for $10 a pop. I bought one then, and am glad I did cos I haven’t seen it since. I also have a tape called “Parate Los Pelos” from the early 1990s on Denver Discos that has some Polo Pepo, different than this 7″, and also Sindrome, Sedicion and some other great 80s Mexican punk bands. Highly recommended, if you can find it.

Vivo en Texcoco y acá hay un personaje que se parece mucho al Polo Pepo (José Vega)real, pero por recordar a mi primo -pues no lo veo- decidí llamarle de igual modo a mi compañero de trabajo. Este último es de Écatepec, y hasta donde sé, es un fiel seguidor del movimiento Punk.
